I help to keep our country safe, protect our values and preserve our way of life. I work with the Police, Councillors & businesses to tackle crime head on and support local initiatives. I helped secure a £23 million funding increase for Essex Police to recruit 365 new officers - the largest increase in police numbers in Essex for over a decade.
For me, quality education is a vital driver of social mobility and the key to building a more prosperous Britain. That is why visiting and supporting our schools is the most common activity I undertake when back in the constituency. I am most focused on inspiring a new diverse generation of future engineers as the Government’s Engineering Envoy.
I am passionate about supporting science and technology. I participate in many groups in Parliament to help build on our modern industrial success story and help rocket Britain onto the global stage as a leading innovative force in fields like artificial intelligence (AI).
I believe in protecting both the UK's vibrant ecosystem and the natural environment worldwide. The decision to leave the EU has created an historic opportunity to review our environmental policies. Outside the EU we can develop global gold standard environmental policies. I believe we can be the first generation to leave the environment in a better state than we inherited it.
The British people voted to leave the EU. Turnout was larger than at any election since 1992 and no Prime Minister or party in British history has ever received as many votes as the vote to leave did. The Government has a duty to deliver the referendum result and it will do so in the national interest. I see this not just as my duty as a democrat, but a restoration of national pride and self-determination.
